Birth Options and VBAC

Last week I shared a post recalling the lessons I’ve learned from  the three very different birth experiences I’ve had to date. The post was getting long and I was due an appointment with my midwife, so I thought it better to leave it until this week to talk about the birth options I’m considering for the baby currently residing in my tummy. At the moment I’m 27 weeks pregnant, hurtling swiftly towards the third trimester and ready to start considering how to get the baby out! Because I’ve have had a C-section in the past, if I opt for a vaginal birth this time, it will be known as a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After C-section). The term itself worried me at first because I didn’t like thinking a vaginal…

Three very different birth experiences {& what I’ve learned}…

I’m going to start by adding a little disclaimer here, just to note that everything discussed below is based on my own personal experience and is by no means meant to influence your decision. Birth is a very personal experience and I’ve written the post for information only. I would always recommend you speak to your Midwife before choosing the best options for you. I should also point out that the paragraphs below cover sensitive issues such as baby loss and miscarriage so if you’re not quite ready to read about those just yet, perhaps leave this post for now. I’ve had three birth experiences to date, all very different. The paragraphs below set out what I have learned from each experience and how those lessons will feed into the…

Babymoon | A Complete Guide to Santorini {Part 1}

I‘m quickly approaching my 25th week of pregnancy and it was at a similar stage with Ettie that we started to think about a Babymoon! We wanted one last chance to get away in the sunshine before being thrust into a life of feeding and baby poop for the rest of the summer and because it was likely to be our last holiday as a two for a while, we wanted to choose somewhere really special and memorable. I’ve put this post together as a ‘Babymoon  Complete Guide to Santorini’ as we didn’t really know much about the island before we arrived (other than the fact it was beautiful)… and I thought it would be useful for others to have an insight into what to expect, particularly if you are pregnant…

The Mummy Juggle #6 | Caroline Mum at Work

Hello and welcome to this months edition of the Mummy Juggle series. A series designed with Mums in mind to share stories and inspiration about how to cope with the day-to-day struggle of juggling work and family life. A struggle I’ve affectionately named ‘The Mummy Juggle.’ The Mummy Juggle: ‘The non-stop juggling act of being a mother, holding down a job, running a home and generally being an all round superwoman!’ Returning to work after having Ettie was a huge hurdle I wasn’t expecting to climb. The impact of trying to juggle running a home, maintain focus at work and spend enough quality time with Ettie really knocked me off my feet and it was something I wasn’t expecting. I set up the Mummy Juggle series as I was interested in hearing from other Mums…

Deciding Etties Name | Small Brand Spotlight : Daydreams and Dandelions

One of my favourite things about decorating Ettie’s bedroom has been discovering all the little handmade treasures that I’ve been collecting up over the last two years to make her room feel really personalised and special. My absolute favourite of these ‘treasures’ is actually one of the first things I bought when she was just a few weeks old. What I am talking about is the beautiful hand-painted and personalised wall banner, lovingly created by Amy at Daydreams and Dandelions. I discovered Amy’s account during a late night Instagram scroll when I was well into the ‘nesting’ period of my pregnancy with Ettie. Have you ever seen something and fallen so completely in love with it, that it feels like you kind of own it already? Well that was how…

Etties Room Progress : a simple and stylish girls nursery

D esigning Ettie’s room been my favourite part of our renovation journey to date. Creating a beautiful yet stylish girls nursery is something I’ve always wanted to do and when we moved in here I was given a completely blank canvas which was perfect. Because we’ve so many other plates in the air at the moment in terms of getting the basics finished in other rooms, Ettie’s room is still has a little way to go before I would say its ‘finished’ and I write a complete room tour, however I think we’ve made enough progress to date to give a little sneak peek!  She also turns two in a few months time meaning we’re likely to change the cot into a big girls bed. I’m not sure what that…

Creating a simple and modern front garden

It dawned on me earlier this week that we’ve been in our house over a year now and during that time I’ve been lusting daily over ideas on how to renovate our front garden. Its currently a bit of a mud pit, so much so that you can see passers by peering in through the window and shaking their heads in disbelief that someone could actually live here! The previous owner was a little old man who used it as a vegetable patch, meaning it hasn’t really been touched since the house was built in the late 1930’s. Because of that, like so many of the other projects we’ve taken on during the renovation of this house, we’ll be starting this project completely from scratch. Tackling the challenge link any…
