Tips for Flying with a toddler

T here’s no doubt that holidays are supposed to be relaxing. Every year we crave our little spot in the sunshine, all set to kick back with a good book and if we’re lucky a cheeky Pina Colada ready to watch the sunset!! ….  but hang on who am I kidding?  That little image of a holiday hasn’t been our reality for a few years now.  In our new reality of ‘parenthood’ all decent books have been replaced by Ipads showing never ending episodes of Peppa Pig and the promise of a Pina Colada at sunset is a very distant memory we may hope to rekindle after retirement!! There’s no denying that holidays with children are different and yet increasingly we’re all opting to travel abroad with our kids because…

The Mummy Juggle #8 | Claire Daily Deals UK

H ello and welcome back to The Mummy Juggle,  a series designed with Mums in mind to share stories and inspiration about how to cope with the day-to-day struggle of juggling work and family life.  A struggle I’ve affectionately named ‘The Mummy Juggle.’ The Mummy Juggle: ‘The non-stop juggling act of being a mother, holding down a job, running a home and generally being an all round superwoman!’ It’s been a couple of months since I last shared a post in this series as I took a little time out to concentrate on Ollie, however now its back I think you’ll agree I’ve found the perfect guest poster to kick the series off again. This month we hear from Claire owner of Daily Deals UK who makes me dizzy with all…

Letters to Ettie {26 months} Becoming a Big Sister

Dear Ettie I haven’t written to you for a few months now and I’m not sure why, I think it’s because I felt like nothing was really changing. You’ve been coming on in leaps and bounds in terms of your personality and speech (and definitely cheekiness), but I feel like I say that every month and so didn’t want my letters to get boring repeating the same thing. But this month we welcomed your new little brother into the world and its been such a special time for all of us. I wanted to get something down to document how you’ve made the transition into becoming a big sister and what better way to do that than writing you a letter. It’s been such a whirlwind of emotions for me.…

Two weeks of parenting two

This post is one of a series of posts I jotted down in weeks just after Ollie was born. My head was awash with emotions adjusting to becoming a mum of two and whilst I found writing my feelings down helped to process everything, I didn’t publish my thoughts at that point because I wanted to give myself time to make sense of it all. You can find the follow up post to this one here: Two months in, whats changed?   T oday marks the start of the third week of parenting two children… a toddler and a newborn and what a crazy two weeks it has been! My parents arrived last Monday and Stu took the first week off work, so I feel like I haven’t really got…

Oliver Hugo Stanley

I t gives me great pleasure to introduce you to our baby boy … our little Ollie, although in more formal circles he’ll have the option of using his full name which is Oliver Hugo Stanley. He’s been with us just over a fortnight now and we couldn’t be more in love. He has a head full of thick black hair, blue eyes and and is the spitting image of Stuarts Dad – which is a little disconcerting at times, but he smells absolutely delicious and is oh so scrummy!! He’s also such a boy, feeding non-stop, pumping like a trooper and letting out the cutest little sigh once he’s finished eating. I could genuinely just eat him up! Compared to Ettie, Ollie is super chilled and will happily sleep for…

Maternity Photoshoot with Becca Wild Photography

R egular readers may have noticed that I love a good photo of Ettie and I. She really is my little best friend and I know her childhood is going to be over waaay to quickly so I want to try and capture as many of our adventures together as possible, so I have something to look back (and cry big weepy tears) over once she’s flown the nest and all I’m left with is Stu and his chat about the cricket!! (sob!) Perhaps one of our greatest adventures together will be bringing this new baby into the world! It will make Ettie a big sister, me a Mummy of two (yikes!) and change the dynamic of our relationship forever so it’s no longer Ettie and her Mummy, but…

A big day for Ettie Willow Faith

I t was such a big day for Ettie yesterday (and us!) that I wanted to write a little bit about it to keep a record. We turned her cot into a big girls bed which may seem like a pretty normal thing to do, but for us it was huge! Ettie has actually been sleeping in our bed for a couple of months now and its been so lovely that we’re probably a little bit to blame for not moving her back! The slightly squished sleeping arrangements came about because the only way I used to be able to get her to sleep, was to climb into her cot with her!! This was fine initially but obviously as my bump started to get bigger it all became rather impractical. So…
