Top Five Instagram Squares from Sunny September #MagicMonthlySquares

Last month, following the inspiration of fellow Blogger ‘Organised Jo’, I posted a round of up of my top five Instagram photos from August and it proved to be pretty popular. So here I am again with a round-up of my top five photos from the month of September. There’s been a lot of discussion this month about the Instagram algorithm and how it’s becoming increasingly difficult to build up an audience. Hopefully by sharing my favourite photos with you, you’ll be able to catch any you may have missed as a result of the sneaky algorithm coding! September was a lovely month, although it seemed to be over in the blink of an eye. We made great use of our new National Trust membership and visited some lovely properties…

The Highs and Lows of Renovating your own Home

We’re nine months into our second renovation project now (although we have had a long summer recess due to Stu’s cricket commitments! *insert eye roll) So as we’re taking a break, I thought I’d share with you a couple of the lessons we’ve learned along our renovation journey to date, just in case you’re bat shit crazy enough to think you might like to have a go at it yourself!** **(It really isn’t that bad) The Highs Despite all my moaning, there are actually a few good points about renovating your own home, and despite how one-sided this argument may look on-screen, the positives do actually outweigh the benefits! Otherwise I’d never have let Stu talk me into doing another one! First of all, you get to choose everything brand…

Honestly Emma

I’ve always been quite a private person, which you probably think is quite peculiar considering I’ve started a blog. But I don’t mean private in terms of what we get up to. I love chatting about the places we’ve been. My memory is rubbish so it helps me to re-live the moment and hopefully swap travel tips with others who’ve been to similar places. No what I’m talking about are feelings. You know the things that niggle away at the back of your mind and make you eat loads of carbs! When it comes to feelings, I’m definitely a closed book, keep your head down and keep busy kind of person. If something’s bothering me, I don’t like to trouble people with my shit, so I tend to pick a…

Hygge-up your home this Autumn {in line with AW/17 Homewear trends}

With the nights getting shorter and the days getting cooler, it wont be long before we’re all snuggled up on the sofa, drinking hot chocolate / red wine* (*delete as appropriate) and nestling down for the night to watch X Factor on the TV. With that in mind, it may be time to invest in a few key items to boost the hygge factor in your home and make it more cosy for the winter. Having a quick scan through the ‘new arrivals’ section of my favourite homewear stores, it seems that dark colours, rich textures and brass are going to feature heavily in AW 17/18. I’ll go so far as to say that deep green is going to overtake that amazing lusty blue that we’ve all been yearning for…

Letters to Ettie {15 months}

Well well my little peanut you are 15 months already!! 15 months of cheeky, loving, scrummy fun all rolled into a 2ft tall little person. You’ve grown up so much in this past month. After struggling a little at nursery at first, this month you’ve really settled in, sometimes taking your shoes to the front door and standing there when it’s time to leave. You definitely know what you want my little Miss. I remember the turning point a few weeks ago. It was a Friday and I’d left work early to collect you because your uncle R had come to stay. I walked into nursery expecting you to run over and fling your arms around me like you usually do. But it was snack time, so when you seen…

Mamas Meet Up: With the Amazing Katie Kirby, Brighton

I’ve spoken a couple of times on here about the amazing ‘Mamas Meet Up’ events organised by the lovely sister duo Natalie Swann and Laura Mcilveen from Mums the Word.online. If you haven’t already seen them please check out my posts Mamas Meet Up: Clemmie Hooper and Mamas Meeting up to Discuss Body Positivity. Basically the sisters are great! They understand being a Mum can be hard work, and that in reality we’d all love an opportunity to pop on a fancy frock and meet other like minded Mums in our local area! The Mamas Meet Ups were established to do just that. Each Meet Up provides Mums with an opportunity to come together and hear from an inspirational guest speaker, chatting anything from careers, style and health to home…

3 Month Bloggingversary – what I’ve learned so far

I woke up this morning with an email from WordPress congratulating me on my three month blogging anniversary! Whilst I couldn’t believe it had been that long, sitting back and thinking about it, I cant believe its only been three months either! I started my blog on a whim because a I wanted to record the fun times I was having with my daughter, but now it’s something I work on almost every day. My first blog post was short and a little abrupt, Ive linked to it for reference, but there really isn’t much to see! I know I’ve still got a long way to go, but when I think how far I’ve come over the past 92 days, I thought now would be a good time to sit…
