6 Stress Busting Tips Working Mums

Being a working mum is hard!! There never seem to be enough hours in the day to achieve everything and you often feel like your chasing your tail trying to keep on top of the simplest of tasks, such as cooking dinner every evening. Recently I spoke about how returning to work full time after having Ettie, knocked me off my feet as I really didn’t appreciate how valuable time management would become being a working Mum. Since writing that post, I’ve made some changes to our day to day lives which have releaved the pressure a little so I thought I’d share them here in the hope of helping other working mums too: 6 Stress Busting Tips for Busy Working Mums Get the weekly shop delivered; This was the…

A spooky morning down in the woods {Halloween 2017}

F orgive me for jumping on the Halloween bandwagon a day too late, but I didn’t get chance to do anything halloweeny with Ettie on the run up to the big day as I was working, so yesterday I took the morning off and we went on a spooky little adventure around Sheffield Park in Sussex. Sheffield Park is one of three National Trust properties in our area so its a regular haunt of ours on days off.  With over 250 acres of open parkland and a huge pond with ducks and birds, there is so much to do and see. Autumn is a particularly amazing time to visit as all of the colours from the trees reflect in the still water of the pond, it really beautiful and oh so…

Letters to Ettie {16 months}

W ell my little peanut! You are 16 months old now! 16 months of perfect little you and what a little character you are growing up to be!! Last week you pulled the spaghetti out of the cupboard and it spilled on the floor. I said ‘ot ooooh Ettie’ and looked down at the mess. You said ‘oooooh’ with your little shocked face, then toddled off to the cupboard and brought back the big red broom all on your own!! It was twice the size of you and I don’t know how you managed it! But it was so funny! Our super strong and clever little girl. Your speech has developed so much over the last few weeks and you’re able to say all sorts of words like ‘bubbles’, ‘shoes’…

Paris is always a good idea!! {so long work stress}

Last week I shared my thoughts with you on the struggle I’d been having since upping my hours at work. Well a couple of things have happened since then and I’m feeling lots brighter, so in the interest of helping other Mums who might be in the same predicament, I thought I’d share them with you! Acupuncture Firstly I went for some acupuncture! I’ve had it before, just after our wedding when I think the stress of working too hard and renovating our first home resulted in this ugly puffy eye thing. The Dr’s thought it was an allergy and I had all sorts of tests, but the creams they prescribed made it a million times worse. A quick consultation with Dr Google recommended acupuncture and after a few sessions, the…

Life You Got Me!! {How being a working Mum has knocked me off my feet!!}

I’ve always been the kind of person who loves being busy, thrived on it even. You know the saying ‘if you want something doing then ask a busy person!’. Well that was me, the one with all the plates spinning in the air, and then I’d take on an extra project, you know just for good measure. But that was the old me. The me before I became a Mum. The me before I took a year off work to concentrate on being the best Mum I could be and the me before I had something fun to live day-to-day for, rather than just working and living for the weekend. Since then things have changed! Maybe it’s because we’re renovating a house, because I’ve started writing this blog, because we’re…

Big Sister / Little Sister? {Baby Loss Awareness Week 2017}

I originally wrote this post for Mums the Word.online as part of baby loss awareness week which runs from the 9th – 15th October. As the story is quite emotional and deeply personal one, I wanted to share it here too, but you can find the original post at Mums the work here: Mama Speaks : Emma Faith I’ve always wanted to be a Mum. For as long as I can remember I’ve been making mental notes to myself about places I’d like to visit once I had a family or areas I’d like to live in ‘once the kids were at school’. I even chose my career path on the basis that it enabled me to have full flexibility over my hours once I became a ‘working mum’. When…

A Day out at Bocketts Farm, Surrey

I’ve been back at work for almost two months now and one of the main things I’ve noticed is that finding time to meet up with Mum friends is now near-on impossible. Gone are the days when I used to plan my weeks around coffee dates and cupcakes, now we all seem to be back at work, we’re lucky if we can squeeze in the odd text here and there on a Whatsapp chat!! Thankfully a few weeks ago my friend Kate and I were able to secure a date for a catch up and were lucky enough to spend a lovely day in the sunshine at Bocketts Farm in Surrey. Bocketts Farm is a family friendly working farm nestled in the heart of the beautiful Surrey countryside. Located just…
