Mums The Word | Mamas Meet Up with Clemmie Hooper a.k.a MOD

Being a mum on maternity leave can be an exciting, but also isolating experience at times – I mean there are only so many times you can clean tomato off the kitchen walls before losing a few of your marbles!! Sister duo Natalie Mcilveen and Laura Swann from MumstheWord.online recognise this and have begun an exciting new venture, hosting fun and inspiring Meet Ups for Mamas in the Brighton and Tunbridge Wells areas. The idea behind the ‘Mamas Meet Ups’ is to provide an opportunity for like-minded Mamas to get together and hear from inspiring guest speakers from around the UK. Events will be held to discuss everything from style, health, well-being and even beginning a new career. The best think about the Meet Ups, is that they are all totally…

I Actually Did it!! Making the switch from IPhone 6 to Samsung S8: Initial thoughts

All the gritted teeth emoji faces over here!!!! After months and months of debate with myself and every other fellow human I’ve came into contact with  – i’m so sorry if I’ve bored you over and over!! I finally took the leap today and made the move over to Samsung leaving behind my trusted Apple IPhone 6!! For me this was huge! I’ve been with Apple for as long as I can remember. I’m an Apple person, we have an Ipad, a Mac and an Apple TV! My husband has an Iphone, my parents both now have Iphones and I cant remember the last time I actually send a green message! I understand where I am with Apple, everything just ‘works!’ However for a while now, i’ve noticed how much…

M u m m y  M a g i c ✨

We had a bit of a shitty day yesterday, finding out some news that wasn’t entirely unexpected but which was hard to hear nevertheless. I’m sure I’ll cover it in detail one day, but today is not that day as I think I’d like to process it a while first. Anyhooooo the point of this post is not to make you cry into your cornflakes, but to celebrate the fact that even though our news was rubbish, an afternoon with this little tinker made me forget all our troubles and just appreciate life and all that we already have. Before I became a parent, I used to hear people talking about the magic of parenthood, but I thought it was just something they would say to help compensate for the…

A healthy Mum is a Happy Mum 🍍

I attended a New Mama workshop on Thursday on behalf of the ladies at Mums the Word.online. It was with Alchemy Superblends at You Juice in Brighton and I found it really interesting and educational. Karen who is the founder of Alchemy had so many top tips for increasing energy levels whilst pregnant and then after that little tinker arrives – which lets face it is when we need it the most! Apparently studies have found that a woman’s nutrition deteriorates after giving birth while the health of her partner and children increases – we’re just too good at being mother hen!! Karen at Alchemy has four different Elixirs to help new Mummy’s increase their nutrient levels and stay more energised! She also recommends eating your lunch for breakfast to…

I made a cake! (Easter 2017) 🐥

Master baker I am not and with the thought of the annual Faith Family Easter bake off looming over me I was plotting ideas thick and fast of how I could somehow contract a mystery illness so I didn’t have to face the embarrassment of showcasing some dried out Victoria sponge with a soggy bottom! 🎂 But alas the illness didn’t appear and when Easter Monday arrived… the day of the dreaded bake off! I had nothing to show except an old piece of Bakewell tart lovingly created by Mr Kipling himself! Could I get away with it, I pondered 🤔 A bit of repackaging and an Easter chick here and there they’d never know!! But alas, even I knew that was lame! I had to come up with something…

Letters to Ettie {12 months of perfect you}

Dear Ettie, our beautiful, funny, loving, charming and crazy little daughter, I don’t think I can ever put into words how much I love you, there just aren’t enough words on the planet, but I have been writing little snippets about your life in your baby diary for the past 12 months, and now that’s all full up so I’ve decided to write you a monthly letter to record our adventures together and document any new little things you learn as the months goes by. Time whistles by so quickly, I always tell myself I’ll never forget the day you got your first tooth, or the day you first crawled, but in reality, every stage in your life has been so magical, I think if I had space in my…

B a b y  D i a r i e s 💕 (Ettie’s Birthday Eve)

I’ve kept these diaries daily since the morning I found out I was pregnant (which was around week 3, I was so eager!!) 💕 In one more sleep my baby turns one and I’m so excited about it! Excited to see her little face open her presents, excited about her turning into a little person and seeing her little personality develop. But I’m also crying on the inside because that’s our first year over. Our first year of getting to know one another, spending every day together because I was on maternity leave. My first year of becoming a Mum and learning I can love someone so unconditionally it’s magical ✨ Soon I’ll go back to work & she’ll start having fun with other people, which is amazing but a little…

Small Brands / Amazing Mamas

Photo Credit @Evie Michelle I’m a huge follower of small brands and love finding products that are unique and different from anything you’d find on the high street. Whats even better is that a number of these brands are run by Amazing Mamas who have had the courage to reach out and set up their own businesses. I spent a year whilst on maternity leave trying to come up with a creative idea so of my own so I could join these amazing women in business, but sadly i’m just not as gifted. So my contribution to the world is to write about them and share my small brand findings with the blogging community instead.   In order to do this, I’ve created a category on my blog to showcase these…
