• Why my 2019 Resolutions are a little different this year…

Hi there, Happy New Year! So I’m going to have to be a bit careful about how I word this because I don’t want to sound like I’ve been finding the last five months difficult. I haven’t, it’s been lovely, the newborn bubble, snuggles with my baby boy, time off with Ettie. I’ve loved every second and have been using the time productively to grow this blog and my Instagram account which I’ve really enjoyed. But somewhere towards the end of October winter set in, Ollie started his four month sleep regression and Ettie became really hard work so getting out of the house was a bit of a nightmare and I retreated into staying indoors because it was easier. I didn’t really realise it was happening and if you’d have…

Why I’m having a Meat Free January

A few of you may have seen my Instagram stories recently where I’ve been talking about trailing a ‘Meat Free January’. Don’t worry this isn’t a national movement that you’ve somehow missed out on*, like Stoptober or Movember (*although I have discovered Vegananuary since writing this). Being Vegetarian for a month is just something I’ve been meaning to trial for a long time, so jumping on the tried and tested ‘new year, new me’ bandwagon I’m using January as an excuse to do it. Buy whyyyyyy I hear so many of you ask? My husband is mortified and my Dad dumbfounded? Why would you choose to give up precious burgers and steaks when you’ve always been such a big meat eater all your life?? I must admit I do understand…

Taf Toys Penguin Play and Kick Car Toy | Review

The first time we used this car toy was on a nightmare nine-hour journey between Brighton and Cumbria. Ollie was only three months old  at the time, so his legs weren’t long enough to kick the penguins nose (to set off the tune), and we forgot the remote control to set it off remotely from the front seat and so I don’t think it would have been a fair assessment to write a review based on that trip. Since then we’ve used the toy on a few smaller car journeys and have recently made the same trip up to Cumbria for Christmas. Ollie is a little older (almost 5 months), we remembered the remote control and the whole experience was a whole lot different so please check out my full review…

5 Ways to Improve the Efficiency of Your Central Heating System

Having a Plumbing and Heating Engineer for a husband can be annoying at times (there’s only so much boiler talk I can take over dinner!), but it’s also pretty useful when it comes to saving money on our gas bill. When I was asked to write an article on ways to improve the efficiency of your central heating system, Stu was over the moon. ‘This will be your best post yet‘ he exclaimed!! So in the interest of making Stu a very happy man and also saving you a few bob in the process, here are my 5 top tips on how to improve the efficiency of your central heating system. Improving the Efficiency of your Central Heating System   1. Thermostatic Radiator Valves  Having thermostatic radiator valves can work…

The Mummy Juggle #10 | Money for Mummy

Hello and welcome back to The Mummy Juggle,  a series designed with Mums in mind to share stories and inspiration about how to cope with the day-to-day struggle of juggling work and family life.  A struggle I’ve affectionately named ‘The Mummy Juggle.’ The Mummy Juggle: ‘The non-stop juggling act of being a mother, holding down a job, running a home and generally being an all round superwoman!’ This month I have a special contribution from Eda who set up ‘Money for Mummy’ a blog dedicated to helping parents find opportunities online to supplement their income, or even find an income if they are unable to secure part-time work. Eda’s story is not only inspirational but also very useful and I hope her site can help some readers find opportunities for themselves.…

Christmas Gift ideas for little girls on the Nice List

This is going to be the first year that Ettie really understands Christmas. We were part way there last year in that she knew something exciting was happening, but I think she was more excited about the fact that chocolate seemed to form one of her five a day for a few weeks, rather than understand about the presents! This year is different, we’ve already taken her to see the big guy in red and an Elf has been to leave a letter under her pillow (telling her to be good, which blew her mind!!). Everyday I tell another flamboyant story about who Father Christmas is and what he can do, and I wonder if I’ve pushed it too far as I see the little cogs in her brain turning.…

    An Afternoon Making Slime

This isn’t my usual style blog post. I love to have a go at crafts, but anything I make generally turns out a bit pants so I definitely shouldn’t be your go to blogger if you want some crafting ideas! But this week we turned our hand to making some slime and it was so much fun I thought I’d share it with you!! Ettie loves magazines, you know the ones that cost a fiver and always have loads of tat stuck to the front! Whenever Stu takes her out for a walk (usually to the shop on a Saturday morning to get some bacon!),  she always comes back with one and as a result we have all sorts of little plastic toys dotted all over the house (thanks Stu). Well…
