I recently published a post about the Mamas Meet Up event which I attended back in June, hosted by the lovely sister duo Natalie Mcilveen and Laura Swann from MumstheWord.online. The event was the first of the Mamas Meet Ups to be held in Brighton and created a real buzz amongst the Mummy community. The idea behind the Meets Ups is to provide an opportunity for like-minded Mums from the local area to get together over coffee and have a natter, before hearing from an inspirational guest speaker from around UK. The event in June included a talk and book signing by the lovely Clemmie Hooper (of @Mother_of_Daughters fame) and was a real success.
I’m happy to report that the duo are back again in September for their second Mamas Meet Up in Brighton and this one will be focused around the issue ‘Body Confidence’.
Mamas Meet Up
Joining Natalie and Laura on the panel this time will be two amazing guest speakers from the world of social media.
The first is inspirational author Megan Jayne Crabbe (a.k.a. @bodyposipanda). Megan openly admits that her body image issues began as a child. She spent years dieting, binging, losing and gaining weight, even spiralling into the depths of anorexia at age fourteen. Following her recovery she finally found body positivity, was able to quit dieting and escape the cult of being thin. She is now determined to spread the message far and wide ‘that we are all good enough as we are’. Megan has been announced as the new face of Dove for their 60th Anniversary and is adamant that there is no such thing as a ‘bikini body diet’!! Megan also has a new book ‘Body Positive Power‘, which she will be signing at the end of the event.
The second guest speaker on the panel will be the beautiful London fashion blogger & Mum of two, Natalie Lee from @stylemesunday. The aim of Natalie’s B blog is to ‘inspire mums to celebrate their uniqueness, share their struggles and experiences and to show that there’s no such thing as perfect’ and if there was, perfect is boring anyway. Nat is the creator of the #WarriorWomanProject, a campaign about breaking down insecurities, being brave and not letting anything hold you back from being the best version of you.
